Charles Leclerc was elated after his impressive win at the United States Grand Prix, emphasizing that Ferrari still has its sights set on the championship title following a powerful one-two finish with teammate Carlos Sainz at the Circuit of The Americas.
Starting from fourth, Leclerc took advantage of an early battle between pole-sitter Lando Norris and Max Verstappen, seizing the lead on the first lap and staying in control to clinch his third victory this season.
Reflecting on his performance, Leclerc noted how Ferrari’s recent upgrades have boosted the car’s race pace and credited the engineers’ hard work for the team’s success.
“It hasn’t been an easy weekend,” Leclerc admitted. “But I was confident in the car’s race setup, and it paid off. Our first stint was strong, and we managed the second stint well. The whole team worked incredibly hard.”
Leclerc’s win, Ferrari’s first one-two in the U.S. in 18 years, has narrowed the points gap in the Constructors’ Championship, with Ferrari now only eight points behind second-placed Red Bull. In the Drivers’ standings, Leclerc remains in third, closing in on Norris for second, while Verstappen extended his lead.
“Now we’re still targeting the title,” Leclerc said. “It’s a long road, but this is a great start to the triple-header.”
